Alisa Stewart
Intentional Interim Kids Ministry Director
Alisa currently serves as the Intentional Interim Kids Ministry Director at Forestville. In other words, Alisa is our resident Chaos Coordinator! She spends the bulk of her time in organization and administration of the educational ministry for children in K5-5th grade. Her goal is to promote spiritual growth in a warm, fun, and loving environment. Alisa leads our kids’ discipleship programs on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. She also directs our family oriented special events, such as Vacation Bible School, Summer Camps, Fall Festival and the Easter Egg Hunt. Alisa’s favorite part of her current job is teaching kids the Word of God and seeing the Word of God come to life for them.
When Alisa was nine years old, she became aware of who God really is and that He wanted a relationship with her. Alisa walked to the front of the church during a revival service to surrender her life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Later, during a youth crusade, Alisa began to wrestle with questions about her salvation experience as a nine year old. As a result, she went to talk to her pastor about her questions. Alisa did not want any uncertainty about whether she was saved, so as a fifteen year old she went forward again to confess Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Today, Alisa knows without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus is her Lord and she is His child. She is committed to serving Him and walking with Him until He calls her home to heaven on a glorious, perfect day.
Alisa earned a Bachelor's of Social Work from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. Alisa has worked in Kids Ministry in various capacities for over 26 years. She previously served as the full time Kids Ministry Director at First Baptist Church Saks for six years. She has completed multiple kids ministry training courses over the years. Alisa served on the Associational VBS Team in Calhoun County, Alabama for four years and also worked with Greenville County Schools for ten years, working with special needs in elementary, middle school, and high school.
Alisa’s favorite scripture changes as she grows and matures spiritually. Currently her favorite verse is found in 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given me a Spirit of Fear but of power, love, and a sound mind." Originally from Mississippi, Alisa has lived and worked all over the southeast for the past 26 years. She has truly fallen in love with each place that the Lord planted her family. Alisa’s husband is Todd, Forestville’s lead pastor! They will celebrate 30 years of marriage this June. Alisa and Todd have two adult children and 3 precious grandchildren. She has found that the empty nest season is awesome! Her son and his family live here in the Upstate and her daughter, Madison, lives and works in Alabama and she is busy planning a wedding. Alisa loves spending time with her family and friends when she is not serving the Lord. She also loves hiking and being outdoors so that she can enjoy God's beautiful creation. Alisa is also very thankful for chocolate!
